Fix-it Clinic

Saturday, November 3, 9:30am-12:30pm - FREE, No Registration Required!

Do you have small household appliances or electronics that aren't working like you'd like them to? Bring them, and any parts and supplies you think might be helpful, and work with a volunteer to disassemble, troubleshoot, and fix your item. Examples of items: lamp, vacuum, fan, broken cables, corroded batteries, wooden furniture, toys, etc. Must be carry-in-sized. *volunteers will do their best to rehab your item though there is no guarantee of success. Interested in being part of the repair team? Contact Happy Dancing Turtle at 218-587-2303 or This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

A note from our volunteers:

The HDT Fix-It Day Guidance

We want to help you fix your stuff. The volunteers at the Happy Dancing Turtle Fix-It Clinic are talented and skilled people with an irresistible urge to help people. their techno-magic only goes so far, though. Here are some tips and questions too help increase the odds that your broken item gets fixed.

Things to keep in mind:

-Not everything can be fixed, especially in a short time frame and on a volunteer basis.

-If we can help you fix it, it comes with no guarantee.

-Your item may be further damaged by the repair efforts.

-If you have necessary parts, bring them along.

Things that are easy to fix:

-Bad electrical cords

-Broken wiring is way easier than bad circuit boards

-Physically broken parts - we can glue, tape, screw, weld and maybe 3D print to fix these

-Loose or missing bolts, screws, etc...

-Things that need to be sharpened or cleaned

Things that are trickier:

-Bicycles - just due to parts we don't have in stock

-Computers/Electronics - due to parts and complexity

Things we are not taking on at all at this event:

-Small Engines
