Homemade Fruit Leather

 

4 cups chopped applesFruitLeather7
1/2 cup water
1 tsp lemon juice
3-4 tbsp sugar
Bring apples to a simmer, then cover.  Let cook on low heat 10-15 minutes.  Use potato masher and add lemon juice and sugar.  Cook another 5-10 minutes on low heat.  Blend in blender.  Pour onto plastic wrap lined cookie sheet.  Do not use spreader, tilt the pan to spread around (1/8 to 1/4 inch deep).  Bake at 179 degrees for 4-5 hours (until not gooey).  You should be able to pick at the edge and it will peel away.  Leave on the plastic wrap.  After it's cooled, loosely roll the plastic up.  Will keep on counter for up to 3 weeks, 6 weeks in the refrigerator, or 1 year in the freezer.
